The top 50 most innovative startups were invited to present their technology to investors and potential enterprise clients from around the world.
Every year Duke University hosts annual events around the US to identify exceptional talent in underprivileged areas, they reward the winners with proffesional opportunities and funding. In 2008, the top 7th graders around US took their college entrance exams - SATs - and those with the highest scores were selected for the program.
Uneventful. Created a source of income and seed capital for future startups from excess capital from scholarships and refund checks. Rest of the time was spent on taking apart electronics, autodidaticism, and Netflix.
Took an offensive amount of excess credits. Got a couple grants from NASA & FPL to build robots. Won a couple competitions. Joined/built a few clubs and honor societies. Acquired some fancy titles to further my collegiate education.
A ~100 of the top nerds in the State taking advantage of the free college education in "high school". In my year, all but 2 students got into an Ivy League or Top 50 University with a full-ride; it becomes a bidding war for the top students - and, most students like myself just go for the highest bidder.
Built a bunch of robots, broke a bunch breadboards, and won a couple national robotics competition. Most notably built a solar-powered electric car that drove a full east-west-east coast trip without stoping to charge #CatchUpTesla.
